RegMount turns your regulator second stage into a hands-free, true point-of-view camera platform. The camera sits in front of the exhaust, where you can always see it, and you keep complete access to your purge button. Installation takes a few minutes the first time. After that, you simply attach your camera and go. This guide covers everything: what’s in the box, the tools you need, step-by-step assembly, how to use the Accessory Pack, a pre-dive checklist, and fixes for the most common problems.
Before you start: Make sure RegMount fits your regulator. It fits most scuba second stages with a body diameter of 2 3/8″–3 1/8″ (60–80 mm). If you aren’t sure, use the fit checker in our Regulator Fit Guide.
What’s in the box
RegMount adapter
The main body. It sits on your second stage and gives you a standard GoPro-style mounting point in front of the exhaust.
Stainless steel clamp
A custom black stainless steel clamp that holds the adapter to the second stage. It tightens with a metric nut.
Protective silicone band
Goes between the clamp and your regulator housing to protect the finish, add grip and spread the clamping pressure.
Comfort chin stabilizer
Rests against your chin to steady the camera and share the load, so your jaw doesn’t have to.
The optional RegMount Accessory Pack adds a J-hook adapter, 3M adhesive and a universal base clip mount for fine-tuning your POV angle. The Complete Diver Kit bundles both at a lower price.
Tools you’ll need
| Tool | Why |
|---|---|
| Metric wrench, nut driver or socket to fit the clamp nut | The clamp uses a metric nut, so imperial (SAE) tools won’t fit properly and can round the nut off. |
| Your camera’s thumb screw (or a coin/screwdriver for it) | Secures the camera or housing to the mount fingers. |
| Soft cloth and fresh water | For cleaning the second stage before you fit the band. |
| Isopropyl alcohol wipe (only if using 3M adhesive) | Cleans and degreases surfaces so the adhesive bonds properly. |
Step-by-step installation
Do this at home on a table with good light, not on a moving dive boat. Take your time the first time. Getting it right here means you won’t need to touch it again on the boat.

Clean the second stage
Rinse the second stage in fresh water and dry it. Sand, salt crystals or grease under the band can cause slipping or scratches.
Attach the protective silicone band
Stretch the silicone band around the second-stage body where the clamp will sit. It should lie flat with no twists or folds and should not cover the purge button or the exhaust ports.
Position the adapter on the second stage
Place the RegMount adapter on top of the band so that the camera mount sits in front of the exhaust and points straight ahead, in line with the mouthpiece. Look at it from the front: the mount should be centered and level. This is what gives you a true POV angle with no bubbles.
Clamp it with the stainless steel clamp
Wrap the stainless clamp over the adapter and band, then thread on the metric nut by hand. Tighten with a metric wrench until it’s snug, not over-tight. The adapter shouldn’t twist when you push it firmly by hand, but don’t crank it down. Overtightening can deform the band, mark the housing, or stress the regulator case.
Attach the comfort chin stabilizer
Fit the chin stabilizer so it rests lightly against your chin when the mouthpiece is in. Put the regulator in your mouth and check: the stabilizer should steady the setup without pushing the mouthpiece up or out.
Mount your camera
Slide your GoPro or similar camera (in its housing or frame) onto the mount fingers and tighten the thumb screw firmly. Aim the lens roughly level with your line of sight when you’re horizontal in the water. If you want to fine-tune the angle further, use the Accessory Pack (see below).
Check purge access and exhaust
Press the purge button. It should move freely, with nothing pressing on it or in the way. Look at the exhaust tee: it must be fully open, with no part of the clamp, band or camera covering it. Breathe from the regulator on the surface (attached to a pressurized cylinder) to confirm normal inhalation and exhalation.
Test in a pool or confined water
Before any open-water dive, test the setup in a pool or calm, shallow water. Check comfort, how the camera rides, that the purge works with your gloves on, and that you can see the camera’s recording light. Record a short clip and review it to check the angle.
Important: If any part of the RegMount interferes with the purge button, exhaust or normal breathing, don’t dive with it. Reposition it, and contact us if the problem persists.
Using the Accessory Pack
Every diver’s regulator, mouth and trim are a little different. The Accessory Pack gives you the parts to dial in the best POV angle for your setup.
J-hook adapter
Changes the height and offset of the camera relative to the mount. Use it when the lens points too low, when the camera sits too close to your chin, or when you want the camera to clear a bulky regulator face.
3M adhesive
Lets you attach the universal base clip mount to a clean, smooth surface where your setup needs it. Adhesive mounts need time to cure before diving (see below).
Universal base clip mount
A standard quick-release buckle-style base, so you can clip the camera on and off without undoing the thumb screw. That’s handy for changing batteries between dives.
Getting a strong adhesive bond
- Clean the surface with an isopropyl alcohol wipe and let it dry completely. Any oil, salt or sunscreen will weaken the bond.
- Apply at room temperature, not in the cold. Press firmly and evenly for at least 30 seconds.
- Let it cure: wait at least 24 hours before getting it wet, and ideally 72 hours before diving, so the adhesive reaches full strength. Plan ahead and do this at home before a trip.
- Check the bond before each dive by tugging gently on the base. If it lifts at an edge, replace the adhesive.
Pre-dive checklist
Do this during your normal predive safety check (BWRAF or your agency’s equivalent):
- Clamp nut is snug and the adapter doesn’t twist when pushed by hand.
- Silicone band is in place and not rolled or torn.
- Purge button moves freely; exhaust ports are uncovered.
- Regulator breathes normally on inhalation and exhalation.
- Camera thumb screw is tight; housing is closed and latched with clean seals.
- Battery is charged, card has space, and recording mode and settings are set (see our GoPro settings guide).
- Optional camera safety tether is attached to the camera and a D-ring.
- Your buddy knows you’re filming, and you have agreed that the dive comes first.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Adapter twists or slides on the second stage | Clamp too loose, or band missing or wet with grease or sunscreen | Clean and dry the housing and band, reseat the band, and tighten the metric nut a little more until it’s snug. |
| Footage points at the sand | Lens angled down, or diver’s trim is head-down | Tilt the camera up a few degrees on the mount fingers or use the J-hook; work on horizontal trim. |
| Footage points at the surface | Lens angled too high | Tilt the camera down slightly and recheck with a short pool test. |
| Jaw fatigue on long dives | Chin stabilizer not touching chin, or camera too far forward | Adjust the stabilizer so it carries some of the load; use a lighter housing or frame if possible. |
| Bubbles in shot | Mount rotated off center, toward the exhaust | Recenter the adapter so the camera sits directly in front of the exhaust and points straight ahead. |
| Purge button feels blocked | Band or clamp too far forward | Loosen, reposition clear of the purge, re-tighten, and test again before diving. |
| Clamp nut won’t turn properly | Imperial tool on a metric nut | Use the correct metric wrench or driver. |
| Doesn’t fit your regulator | Second stage outside 60–80 mm, or an unusual shape | Measure with the Fit Guide and contact us with your model. |
Care after the dive
Rinse the camera and RegMount together in fresh water after every dive, and press the purge and camera buttons while they soak to flush out salt and sand. Let everything dry in the shade. Every few dives, check the band for cracks and the clamp for corrosion or loosening. Replacement parts are available on their own: the stainless steel replacement clamp and the comfort chin stabilizer. For more, see our camera gear care guide.
Safety disclaimer: It is the responsibility of the user/scuba diver to familiarize themselves with the RegMount prior to use. NSS-CDS standards require a minimum of 100 dives in an overhead environment prior to using any additional equipment due to task loading. Assembly of the RegMount on personal equipment is the sole responsibility of the user. RegMount is not responsible for damaged or lost equipment during use and/or installation. Please dive safely.
